China Sourcing Agent for Uzbekistan: What It Does and What It Costs
Short answer: A China sourcing agent buys from Chinese factories on your behalf, verifies those suppliers, inspects the goods before shipment, and consolidates orders from several suppliers into one container to Tashkent. SilkRoadSource charges commission on order value — 6% below USD 5,000 (minimum USD 60), 4% from 5,000 to 20,000, 3% from 20,000 to 50,000, and 2.5% above 50,000 — plus USD 12 per CBM for consolidation. Consolidated LCL from Yiwu or Ningbo to Tashkent runs 18–22 days by rail and 13–15 days by road, with door-to-door delivery inside 20–40 days.
What a China sourcing agent actually does for an Uzbek importer
An agent is not a marketplace and not a freight forwarder. It sits between you and a set of Chinese factories and takes responsibility for the parts you cannot do from Tashkent:
- Supplier sourcing and verification. Finding factories for your specification, checking business licence and production capability, and rejecting the ones that are trading companies posing as factories.
- Price and MOQ negotiation. Getting a comparable quotation across several suppliers on the same specification, unit and Incoterm.
- Sample management. Collecting samples, arranging your approval, and freezing the approved unit as the production reference.
- Quality inspection. AQL-based pre-shipment checks at the factory before the goods are released for loading.
- Consolidation and shipping. Receiving goods from several suppliers at one warehouse, repacking for export, and shipping to Tashkent as one shipment.
- Documentation. Packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin and the documents your customs broker needs on the Uzbek side.
The practical difference between an agent and Alibaba is who carries the risk. On a platform you contract with each supplier separately and own every coordination step. With an agent, one counterparty holds the specification, the inspection result and the shipping plan. The trade-offs are set out in China sourcing agent and import from China.
Published rate card: what a China sourcing agent costs
Commission is charged on the value of the goods you order, not on freight. Consolidation is charged separately because it is a physical service, not a percentage.
| Order value (USD) | Commission | Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Under 5,000 | 6% | USD 60 |
| 5,000 – 20,000 | 4% | — |
| 20,000 – 50,000 | 3% | — |
| 50,000 and above | 2.5% | — |
| Service | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Consolidation and repacking | USD 12 per CBM | Minimum USD 30; excludes ocean and inland freight |
| Pre-shipment inspection | USD 150 per inspector-day | Third-party or in-house; AQL sampling |
| Supplier verification / factory audit | Quoted per case | Depends on province and scope |
Two things are deliberately not in this table: freight and customs duty. Freight moves with the market and is quoted per shipment against a real booking; duty is assessed by Uzbek customs on the declared customs value. Treating either as a fixed percentage of goods value is how landed-cost surprises happen — the calculation method is in calculating landed cost.
Worked example: a USD 8,400 mixed order from Yiwu to Tashkent
Three suppliers, one consolidated shipment, five CBM of mixed household goods:
| Line | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Goods value (3 suppliers) | — | USD 8,400 |
| Agent commission | 8,400 × 4% | USD 336 |
| Consolidation and repacking | 5 CBM × USD 12 | USD 60 |
| Pre-shipment inspection | 1 inspector-day | USD 150 |
| Agent services subtotal | 336 + 60 + 150 | USD 546 |
| Freight, Yiwu → Tashkent (LCL) | quoted per booking | separate |
| Uzbek customs duty and VAT | on declared customs value | separate |
The number to compare between agents is the services subtotal against the same goods value and the same shipment — 6.5% in this example. An agent quoting a lower percentage but adding repacking, inspection and document fees back in is not cheaper; it is just less transparent.
The process, step by step
- Brief and specification. You send the product, target quantity, target price and destination. This becomes the product specification sheet every supplier quotes against.
- Sourcing. We approach factories in the relevant cluster and return a shortlist with comparable quotes.
- Sampling. Samples are collected, shipped to you, and the approved unit is frozen as the golden sample.
- Order and deposit. You approve the order; the standard structure is 30% deposit and 70% against inspection result.
- Production monitoring. Milestone evidence at agreed checkpoints — materials in, tooling complete, first-off units.
- Pre-shipment inspection. AQL check at the factory before goods leave. Failing units are reworked or replaced before payment is released.
- Consolidation. Goods from all suppliers arrive at one warehouse, are checked against the packing list and repacked for export.
- Shipping and documents. One shipment to Tashkent with the full document set for your customs broker.

Payment terms and trial orders
Trial orders start from 100 pieces per SKU, and mixed SKUs from several suppliers can be consolidated into one shipment — the model is described in low MOQ and mixed SKU. Payment is released against evidence, not against promises: the balance moves after the inspection result is on file, which is the same control principle as paying Chinese suppliers safely.
Questions Uzbek buyers ask before the first order
How much does a China sourcing agent charge in Uzbekistan?
Commission on goods value: 6% under USD 5,000 with a USD 60 minimum, 4% between 5,000 and 20,000, 3% between 20,000 and 50,000, and 2.5% above 50,000. Consolidation is USD 12 per CBM (minimum USD 30) and pre-shipment inspection is USD 150 per inspector-day. Freight and customs duty are quoted separately.
Can I order small quantities from several different suppliers?
Yes. Trial orders start from 100 pieces per SKU, and goods from several suppliers are consolidated at one warehouse and shipped as a single consignment to Tashkent. Consolidation is charged at USD 12 per CBM.
How long does shipping from China to Tashkent take?
Rail from Yiwu or Ningbo to Tashkent is 18–22 days in transit, or 20–40 days door to door. Road transport via Khorgos or Alashankou is 13–15 days in transit. Air freight is 5–8 days.
Who is responsible if the goods are defective?
Inspection happens at the factory before shipment, not after arrival. If the AQL check fails, the goods are reworked or replaced before the balance payment is released, so the problem is settled while the goods are still in China.
Do you speak Russian with suppliers and with me?
Buyer communication is in Russian or English. Factory communication is in Chinese, which is one reason the specification has to be written down precisely rather than agreed verbally.
Is it cheaper to buy directly from the factory?
Only if you already have a verified factory, can negotiate in Chinese, can inspect on site and can consolidate several suppliers yourself. The comparison is set out in sourcing agent vs buying direct from a factory.
What documents do I receive?
Packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin, inspection report and the transport documents, plus the supplier verification file. Your customs broker uses the same set on the Uzbek side.
What is the minimum order?
100 pieces per SKU. Because MOQ applies per variant rather than per product, mixed runs across colours and sizes are negotiated with the factory as one order with an internal split.
